Fowl cholera disease in poultry is caused by Bacterial disease.
It is an infectious avian disease caused by the bacterium, Pasteurella multocida. It is a Gram-negative, nonmotile, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped bacterium. The species P. multocida includes the subspecies multocida, septica and gallicida.
The most efficient treatment in breeding flocks or laying hens is individual intramuscular injections of a long-acting tetracycline, with the same antibiotic in drinking water.
