Let he has covered 2x distance. Now, He has to covered x distance.
So,
2x + x =1
x =1/3

Say if the distance is between Delhi and lahore is 100 km then atalji started looking out at 50th Km and now 50 km is left. Now he looked outside untill 25 km and 25 km is left. 25 is 1/4 of total distance i.e. 100km then how come answer is 1/3
