If an acid soil is limed to the pH level it enhances nitrification

If lime is added to acidic soil, it increases soil pH by up to 5.5 - 6.5. It also adds calcium and magnesium and reduces the solubility of aluminum and manganese in the soil. When soil pH reaches its optimum value, its fertility increases. Hence, it has a positive impact on soil fertility and nitrification.
