Porosity is the unoccupied space in the soil or the percent by volume of a soil sample that is unoccupied by the soil particles. Porosity is directly related to bulk density and particle density.
If the bulk density of soil decreases, the total porosity of the soil increases, that is it is inversely proportional to each other.
