In the Mitscherlich technique oats plants are grown to maturity. It is performed for soil fertility investigations and is for the study of the trend of the yields from a series of plants grown to maturity.
In this technique, oats are grown to maturity in pots containing 6 lb of soil. A total of 10 pots are used. The yields of N-P and N-K treatments are expressed as a percentage of the yield from the complete N-P-K treatment.
