Odisha, after M.P. and Chatisgarh, is the third largest producer of kendu leaf. Odisha produces roughly 4.5 to 5 lakh quintal of Bidi Leaf every year, accounting for about 20% of the country's total production. Odisha's Tendu (kendu) leaf is unique in that it is processed, whereas the rest of India produces it in phal form.
