Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin was launched in ............... .

As an independent programme, Rural Housing Programme was started with Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) in January 1996. But certain gaps were identified during the evaluation. To remove these gaps in the Rural Housing Programme and in view of government's commitment to provide 'Housing for All' by the scheme 2022, the IAY has been restructured into Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY - G).
