The REDD+ program is a concept under UNFCC. It was adopted to drive climate change mitigation in the developing countries by providing results based payment. The REDD+ Himalayas program is in line with this global program. It was launched in 2016 to curb deforestation and degradation of the forests. The UN-REDD program involves UNEP, UNDP and also the FAO. It is a complementary program to the REDD+. It helps the countries develop capabilities to achieve the targets set by REDD+. It supports national REDD+ programs across the world. The program uses financial incentives to drive the action against climate change.
