Strauss reaction is positive for Brucella abortus, Pseudomonas mallei and Actinobacillus ligneresii.
The Straus reaction is seen in male guinea pigs inoculated intra peritoneally with infective material containing either P. pseudomallei or P. mallei.
The reactions of swelling of the testes, inflammation of the tunica vaginalis and ulceration of the scrotal skin develop in 2 - 3 days.
