The first agriculture university of India is located at Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. The name of the university is G. B. Pant University of Agriculture. It was inaugurated by Jawahar Lal Nehru on 17^th November 1960 as the “Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University”. The university is regarded as the Harbinger of the Green Revolution in India. The campus at Pantnagar is spread over an area of 12,661 acre which makes it the second largest university in the world.
