Struck Pointing: Upper side is pressed 12 mm inside the masonry face; bottom is flush.
Recessed Pointing: The mortar is pressed uniformly back from the wall face by about 6 mm or more to leave a square hollow.
Grooved Pointing: A semi-circular groove is made in the center of the flush joint using a specialized tool.
Tuck Pointing: A groove is cut in the center of a flush joint and filled with white lime putty to create a thin, neat line.

This is a modification of flush pointing in which the face the pointing is kept inclined, with its upper edge pressed inside the face by 10mm which drains water easily.
