The zoological name of sheep is Ovis aries.
Sheep or domestic sheep (Ovis aries) are domesticated, ruminant mammals typically kept as livestock. Although the term sheep can apply to other species in the genus Ovis, in everyday usage it almost always refers to domesticated sheep.
These are relatively small ruminants, usually with crimped hair called wool and often with horns forming a lateral spiral. Sheep are an important part of the global agricultural economy.
