Sorry to bust your bubble, but Steve McQueen did not invent the bucket seat in 1969. Bucket seats were in use, mostly in Europe, shortly after WWII and were very prevalent in England in the 1950's. They were used in the USA as early as 1962. McQueen did have a design patent on a bucket seat that was approved in 1969. Steve was not only an actor, but also a part time race car driver. After his friend was injured in an accident, Steve came up with a design to better hold the driver firmly in the seat. So credit Steve with a design of a seat, but he didn't invent the bucket seat himself.
