A hybrid formed by crossing Wheat and Rye is known as Triticale. It is the combination of the words Triticum (Wheat) and Secale (Rye). It was first bred in laboratories of Scotland by A. S. Wilson in 1873. It is mostly grown for forage or fodder, but nowadays also used as breakfast cereals.
