Union Government announces special package of Rs 200cr for J&K to engage youth in sporting activities

The Union Government has announced a special package of 200 crore rupees for Jammu and Kashmir to engage youth of the state in constructive sporting activities.

The package will provide construction of indoor sporting halls in all districts of the state to provide playing facilities to youth during long winter.

Under the special package Two stadiums in Srinagar and Jammu will be upgraded to the international standards while existing stadiums at Rajouri, Poonch and Udhampur will also be upgraded.

Besides, water sport facilities will also be provided at an estimated cost of six crore rupees Special programme ‘Sports for AII’ is being implemented through J&K State Sports Council for immediate engagement of youth in sporting activities.

This special programme will mainly organize village level competitions and development of popular sports.
