Which lake in Odisha is home to lot of migratory birds coming from Mongolia, Russia and South-East Asia?

A. Tampara

B. Chilika

C. Pata

D. Sara

Answer: Option B

Solution (By Examveda Team)

Many migratory birds visit Chilika Lake in Odisha, including those from Mongolia, Russia, and Southeast Asia. During the peak migratory season, the lagoon is home to around 160 different bird species. Birds flock here from as far as the Caspian Sea, Lake Baikal, the Aral Sea, and other remote regions of Russia, Mongolia's Kirghiz steppes, Central and Southeast Asia, Ladakh, and the Himalayas. These birds fly huge distances; migrating birds are likely to take significantly longer paths than straight lines to reach Chilika Lake, maybe up to 12,000 kilometres.
