The Kashmir ruler Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin introduced the carpet industry in Kashmir valley. There are mainly two types of carpets, Khabdan-Pile carpets and Knotted carpets. Khabdan-Pile carpets are woven in Ladakh and Knotted carpets are woven in Kashmir region.
