Alamgirpur is an ancient site of Indus Valley Civilisation that is situated on the banks of Hindon river which is a tributary of Yamuna river, in western Uttar Pradesh. It was founded by Alexander Cunningham in 1861. Alexander Cunningham was the first Director General of ASI.
