Let there be x pupils in the classTotal increase in marks
= x × $$\frac{1}{2}$$
= $$\frac{x}{2}$$
∴ $$\frac{x}{2}$$ = (83 - 63)
⇒ $$\frac{x}{2}$$ = 20
⇒ x = 40
