According to the Indian Standard (IS) soil classification system, the particle size range for different soil fractions is defined as follows:
Gravel: Particles larger than 4.75 mm.
Sand: Particles between 4.75 mm and 0.075 mm.
Silt: Particles between 0.075 mm and 0.002 mm.
Clay: Particles smaller than 0.002 mm.
