Malwa Plateau is a plateau region in north-central India. It is bounded by the Madhya Bharat Plateau and Bundelkhand Upland to the north, the Vindhya Range to the east and south, and the Gujarat Plains to the west.

2. It was one of the sixteen great kingdoms of Northern India during the time of Buddha:
The kingdom was located in the region around its capital Varanasi, bounded by the Varuna and ASI rivers in the north and south which gave Varanasi its name. Before Buddha, Kasi was the most powerful of the sixteen Mahajanapadas.
