The Gingee River flows through the Puducherry Region of the Union Territory of Puducherry. It originates from the Gingee Hills in Tamil Nadu and flows eastward into the Puducherry area before joining the Sankaraparani River and eventually draining into the Bay of Bengal.

This river is significant to the Puducherry Region as it supports irrigation and groundwater replenishment during the monsoon season. Though seasonal, the Gingee River plays a vital role in the local water system of this region.

The other regions—Yanam (located in Andhra Pradesh), Mahe (in Kerala), and Karaikal (in Tamil Nadu but separate from Puducherry district)—do not lie along the path of the Gingee River. Hence, they are not associated with this river geographically or hydrologically.

Therefore, the Gingee River is located in the Puducherry Region of the Union Territory.
