1st discount = 35%
Single equivalent discount of 20% each
$$\eqalign{ & = \left( {20 + 20 - \frac{{20 \times 20}}{{100}}} \right)\% \cr & = {\text{ }}36\% {\text{ }} \cr & {\text{Difference}} \cr & = \left( {36\% - 35\% } \right) \cr & = 1\% \cr} $$
Let the amount of the bill Rs. x
$$\eqalign{ & \therefore \frac{1}{{100}}x = 22 \cr & x = {\text{Rs}}{\text{. }}2200 \cr} $$
