The Rajasthan Canal (now called the Indira Gandhi Canal) draws its water from the Sutlej and Beas. The canal was earlier known as Rajasthan Canal and its name was changed in 1984. Indira Gandhi Canal uses water released from Pong dam. The 649-km long main canal carrying waters from Satluj and Beas rivers of Punjab serves a large part of north west Rajasthan.
