Viscosity of water in comparison to mercury is
A. Higher
B. Lower
C. Same
D. Higher/lower depending on temperature
Answer: Option B
Solution (By Examveda Team)
Viscosity of water in comparison to mercury is Lower.Viscosity: It describes the internal friction of a moving fluid. A fluid with large viscosity resists motion because its molecular makeup gives it a lot of internal friction.
Mercury dynamic viscosity at temperature 300K is 1.53
Water dynamic viscosity at temperature 300K is 0.89

Totally wrong information,
For same shear stress the velocity gradient of water is higher than velocity gradient of mercury .
Also, viscosity is inversely proportional to velocity gradient.
So, we can say that viscosity of water is lower than viscosity of mercury.

Totally wrong answer , examveda please correct your mistake otherwise student develops misconception about this question .
Surface tension of mercury is higher than water
Viscosity of water is higher than mercury
Viscosity of water is lower than the viscosity of mercury
But the kinematic viscosity is more for water and less for Mercury.
Qs. Stuked in two halves.
Answer is wrong.
B.Dynamic viscosity (Viscosity) of water in comparison with to mercury is *LOWER*
Kinematic viscosity of Water in comparison with to mercury is *Higher*
totally wrong. dynamic viscosity of water is lower than mercury.
