The rural housing scheme Indira Awaas Yojana (lAY), started by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, has been restructured and renamed as Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY) on 21^st September, 2016. Under the new scheme, the government was aiming to construct one crore houses by 2019 .

The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana will be made available to anyone between the age group of 18 to 50 years. The policy holders will need to pay rupees 330 per year. The risk coverage being provided in the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana is rupees 2 lakh.
